Collie Puppies For Sale - What You Need to Know ...

Sign says "Collie Puppies For Sale" When you are getting your from more toward the top end of town, here are a few things you want to consider:

  • Never buy your Collie without visiting it first. Should go without saying, but he or she is going to be part of your family for years to come and you want to make sure that you are a match.
  • Visit the your collie puppy to be more than once. You want to be sure your is the right one for you. Let them get to know you. Check that their behavior is consistent with the last visit and everything is still in check.
  • If the seller is meant to be a specialized breeder, be wary if they are offering more than one or two breeds. The breed of your collie might not be so pure ... and different breeds have different needs when it comes to breeding and lets face it, if you are going to the trouble to find a breeder you may as well get a pure bred, specialized Collie breeder.
  • Ask to see the pedigree papers and ensure the breeder's name is on the certificate. Someone else's name on the papers may mean that you are dealing with a person in the middle (which could mean you are paying more than you need to) or worse it isn't their puppy to be selling :(
  • The breeder should want to know about you too
  • Ask to see the puppy's mom - there may be reason to be suspicious if you can't. When buying a breed with papers, you want to see the stock your Collie is from.
  • Never send money to someone for a pet using Western Union or Money Gram - your money can't be traced once sent. OK so not this point isn't specifically puppy related, but a friend of mine was burnt badly and I want to make sure people are protected.
